Trying out a new color workflow.The goal here was to completely avoid quicktime due to it's dreaded gamma shift issues and how it handles H.264 media. So, all media was ingested through Adobe Media Encoder. I created a custom preset which transcoded everything to Avid DNxHD 175x in the highest quality. Once that was done you could already see a big difference between the newly created files and the H.264 originals. CS5's extra bit of color information from their collaboration with Canon makes a difference that can be seen if you open up the files side by side. It's an even more flat version of the 7D's flat picture style. I then cut the footage in Avid Media Composer 5, and sent the footage out to After Effects/Magic Bullet Colorista II.
